1) How is QA Reader different from my EHR?

If you want to know what medications Mrs. Jones in Room 232 had today, your EHR can tell you—including what she had for breakfast. But if you need to know about patterns and trends, easily track your frequent fallers, and have access to expert risk manager review, you need QA Reader. The data that's analyzed in QA Reader is separate from a resident’s electronic health record and is QA privileged. Pretty cool.

2) How does QAR work? How do you get my incident data? Do you connect to my EHR?


You send us your incident report and we do the rest. Whether you use paper or an EHR, you can fax or electronically submit information to QA Reader. Our team will upload it into the system and all of your reports and dashboards will update automatically. 

3) How long does it take for my data to show up in QA Reader?


You can view your incidents in QA Reader within 48 hours. All of your reports, charts, and graphs will have been updated, and potentially serious events are routed to our Risk Managers for review and comment.

4) If I enter an incident in my EHR, do I have to do another incident report to submit to QA Reader?

Nope. If you have an EHR, all you need to do is download a printer driver. It's super easy, and better yet, we will walk you through it the first time (or as many times as you need). After that, once you fill out the incident report on your EHR and click "Print to QA Reader," you're done. That’s it. One click.

5) Can my insurance company or agent see the information that we report to QA Reader?

No. Your data is secure, segregated, HIPAA compliant and QA privileged. Only users that you have authorized and QA Reader staff can see your information.

6) What are the criteria for a potentially serious event? How do events get triggered for Risk Manager Review?

You decide. You determine what types of events you want to have reviewed by our risk managers as potentially serious. We have a list of Incident and Injury Types and you just check a box next to the ones that would be most useful to you. Once an incident is submitted to QA Reader, we will automatically determine if the incident meets your potentially serious event criteria.

7) Who are the risk managers reviewing my serious events (credentials, comment examples)?

QA Reader risk managers are nurses, administrators, and other clinical staff with over 20 years' average experience working on the floor in skilled nursing, assisted living, and CCRCs.

8) Can I create neighborhoods or units within a community?

Yes. If you want to separate data by floor, units, neighborhood or type of care, we can help you do that. We also have a benchmarking tool so you can compare units to each other.

9) Is there a limit to the number of users we can have at the base price for the subscription?

No. We don't limit the number of users you can allow to access QA Reader.

10) How long does it take to implement QA Reader?

Our record for the shortest turnaround time from, "Yes, sign us up!" through training and going live is 24 hours. Typically, training and implementation take just a few hours.
